Three people on our team got baptized this past weekend at church. It was a really nice service and we were all there to support and encourage them in this new step of faith!

Garage Sales Rock!

Hey guys,

Mary and I weren't around this past weekend but we did get an update on the car wash which happened on Saturday.  It wasn't the greatest success due to the weather so Patrick & Rachel have come up with some great ideas, see below and excerpt from the email you should have received:

Team,
This weekend on two separate occasions a few of our group members suggested a garage sale as a part of our fund raising. This idea was tossed around at one of our first meetings, but not much thought was given to it. I think this idea may work if we can acquire enough participation. The bottom line is we need stuff to sell. Below is a quick breakdown of the things we should shoot for to make the sale a success. Please give me your feedback via e-mail so that we do not have to wait for the next meeting to make progress. Include any ideas, if your are willing to use your house, and weekends you are NOT available. Lets try and set a date and location by this weekend.

1. Choose a house that has a busy road near by.
2. Advertise on Craigs List
3. Request donated items from family and friends to sell. As a part of that, we could volunteer to pick up any items that people are willing to donate.
4. We can sell other things at the garage sale as well as hand out literature.
5. Steal things from Erik to sell weather he still wants them or not.
6. Nice weather

Airfare Update

Okay!!! I spoke with Delta just a couple of minutes ago. They received our deposit and we are confirmed for our flights!!!!! Nicaragua, here we come!

Airfare Deposit Sent!!!

Well everyone,
We are committed to this trip, there's no turning back now. I sent the deposit check this morning to Continental for our airfare. The price for our fare is locked in at a good rate and we have seats on the plane. This trip is becoming more and more real every day.

Team Meeting

Documents:
Well, on Tuesday of this past week our meeting went well. We were all reminded that if we do not have or have not submitted for our passports that it needs to be done by Thursday in order to have enough time for the government to approve the application and get the passports to us. PLEASE MAKE SURE you have your passport applications turned in.
Nikki & Austin will be following up with everyone to make sure all apps have been turned in.

Also, we talked about Support letters again. Everyone should have all of their questions answered about support letters. It is essential that those letters go out so we have the prayer support we need for this trip and because it will be the main avenue for financial support if you need it.

Fundraising:
We know we are having a car wash (see calendar at the bottom of the page) on the 21st of July and there was a sign up for things to bring, please contact Patrick & Rachel to see what items are still needed.
Also, Pat & Rachel are figuring out which 5 games we are going to work, as a team, @ the PGE park concession stands. During our meeting on Tuesday 7-17-07 they will have five to ten games picked out and we will all commit to five games.

Donations:
Things are coming along great with donations, it looks like we have a lot of possible avenues for getting the things we need, both to take with us and to give away for raffles and such. We are waiting to get some letterhead made up (Erik is working on that and will have it complete by Tuesday 7-17-07), so we can send out some "official" The Cause letters requesting donations.

Prayer:
Holly & Lindsay came together and prayed for the trip and the team and has decided to make a list of on going prayer requests for the team which they will pray for exclusively. They will also work together to motivate us to pray as a team.

You guys, this is an awesome adventure. I'm reminded of how good God is by Him bringing this team and mission together for us to grow and work and make a difference in people's lives.

Support Letters

So, we sent an email tonite with a sample support letter. At our next meeting we will go over your own support letters and make sure everything you need to include in the letter is in each one. Please know that we are going to do everything we can to raise enough money for all of us to go on this trip but these support letters will be a big part of the funds necessary for you personally.
